Heart of London Business Alliance is working in partnership with the Mayor of London on an energy efficiency programme to support businesses in reducing their energy consumption, costs and carbon emissions.

Aimed at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in commercial spaces, the Business Climate Challenge funding programme offers customised technical advice to businesses to help make their workplaces more energy efficient, future-proof against rising energy prices and help London towards becoming net zero by 2030.

The Business Climate Challenge (BCC) provides London businesses with tailored technical support to save money and energy. Participants in the programme will receive:

FREE technical support from an energy consultant including:

A workplace audit to assess the operational efficiency of your premises and identify energy reduction opportunities
A bespoke recommendation report including ‘quick win’ energy conservation measures through to deep retrofit measures that can be undertaken, energy and cost savings potential of those measures, and an understanding of their journey to net zero.
A building “walk through” to discuss the report findings, recommendations, and next steps.
Follow up one-to-one calls to troubleshoot specific challenges encountered
FREE training sessions to upskill facilities managers and other staff
Social media and case study highlights for businesses who are implementing actions

In the first 9 months of the pilot programme last year, participants reduced their energy consumption by 16% and saved £8,300, on average.

Eligibility criteria:

The scheme is open to owners, owner-occupiers, building managers and tenants and participants must have influence over the workplace and ability to make changes
Participants must have access to energy meters, consumption and payments within their demise
A participating organisation may be made up of single or multiple tenant businesses in one building or be the building owner. An organisation with multiple commercial office spaces may select one of those locations
Participants that already have set a target for reducing energy use, you can still apply to help
