Elizabeth Line opening

Tuesday 4 May 2022: Transport for London has today confirmed that, subject to final safety approvals, the Elizabeth line will open on Tuesday 24 May 2022.

By dramatically improving transport links, cutting journey times, providing additional capacity, and transforming accessibility with spacious new stations and walk-through trains, the Elizabeth line will be a game changer for travel in London, including in and around Heart of London’s area.

Once the route is open, services will run every five minutes between 06:30 and 23:00, although a full timetable will not be in place until May 2023.

In the coming weeks, Elizabeth line signage will continue to be uncovered across the network in preparation for the start of customer service. The updated Tube and Rail map will also be released later showing the new central section stations connected with the rest of the TfL network for the first time.

At Heart of London, we also hope that the opening of the Elizabeth Line at Tottenham Court Road Station will add impetus and encourage investment for our plans to improve Charing Cross Road, which will ensure that people arriving in the West End via this station will experience a world-class place.
