Operational Information

The schedule of the day is as follows:

  • 06:00   Arrival and set up
  • 12.20   Lord Mayor arrives on site
  • 12.30   Event starts
  • 14.30   Lord Mayor departs
  • 18:00   Event finishes
  • 20:00   Site cleared

The parade will be held along the following route:

  • Leicester Square Gardens
  • Wardour Street
  • Gerrard Street
  • Newport Place
  • Leicester Courtt
  • Leicester Square Gardens

The event will utilise the north quadrant of the Square only.  A small statue of Buddha will be placed in the middle of grass area and public will be able to make offerings and bathe the Buddha.

There will be a series of small (3m x 3m) gazebos erected on the quadrant for low level activities, information and one as a staff marquee.

The event will begin with an official unveiling of the Buddha, followed by a parade (route attached) of approx 60 people, some in costume.

Small, short, non amplified performances will take place throughout the afternoon.

A small PA will be operational for announcements only.

The event is anticipated to attract between 500 – 1000 people across the afternoon.

The Lord Mayor is attending the event and Mayoral Car will be arriving via Cranbourne Street at approx 12.20pm. They will park on the North Terrace until departure at approximately 14.30 via Swiss Court.
