There is a proportionate Policing Operation in place for this event, however, we do not have any intelligence at this time to suggest disorder will occur.

There is also a parallel event taking place at a similar time, Extinction Rebellion, who are opposed to climate change, fracking and the Heathrow expansion. This group seek to undertake civil disobedience and a separate Policing plan is in place to deal with any issues which may result. This group have notified Police of their intention to simultaneously conduct some form of blockade at five Central London bridges between 10am – 4pm. The affected bridges may include:

  1. Southwark Bridge
  2. Blackfriars Bridge
  3. Waterloo Bridge
  4. Westminster Bridge
  5. Lambeth Bridge

The Metropolitan Police are currently working in conjunction with a number of partner agencies to plan tactical options and contingency traffic plans to mitigate and minimise any disruption.

There is a proportionate Policing plan in place dedicated to this potential disruption.
