The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) have created a new Borough Command Unit (BCU) structure within London. The Westminster policing area has merged with the neighbouring boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea. With this merger comes a new Tri-Borough Policing arrangement.
Following the successful multi-agency trial, which launched in September 2018, we are pleased that outcomes from this has informed the new BCU model of policing for the West End.
The new BCU model allows for 5 sergeants and 50 police constables across the wider West End footprint. For the Heart of London Business Alliance, Dan Reid will continue to be our dedicated Sergeant and our Dedicated Ward Officers will be:
- Lara Sharp – West End & China Town Ward
- Alexandra Paul – West End & China Town Ward
- Will Kenny – Mayfair & St James Ward
- Joe Lister – Mayfair & St James Ward
The Heart of London footprint will remain a priority patrol area, with a deployment working early and late shift patterns ensuring the area is policed for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. Within each shift team there are also 6 police constables deployable on a tasking basis.
The new BCU structure is modelled to deliver greater police presence and allows us to build upon the multi-agency partnership approach.
The Heart of London’s, dedicated Street Security Team, City Inspectors and Outreach teams will continue to operate within the area providing additional operational multi agency support to the police.
