Pedicabs are a danger to our workers and visitors, and damaging to the reputation of the West End. By being uninsured, causing congestion and through reckless driving, they present a real hazard to our area. We are determined to stop this.

Over the past two years, Heart of London has co-ordinated a coalition of businesses, community groups and residents from across the West End in campaigning for new regulation for pedicabs and rickshaws. We have worked hard to keep this issue on the Government’s agenda and we are pleased that the Government has committed to taking steps to address the issue.

Simon Thomas, Chief Executive, The Hippodrome Casino:

“We have worked for over a year to get deliver this step change by Government, we are now so close to achieving the legislation we need. I would urge all Heart of London members to write to the Secretary of State to push us over the line. We are much stronger working together on issues such as these”.

We still need to make sure the Government delivers on its promise to legislate and time is short to make sure the Modern Transport Bill includes new regulations for pedicabs. Many of our members and supporters have written to the Secretary of State for Transport, if you have not, now we need your support.

Write to the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling MP, to urge him to include new powers to regulate pedicabs in the Modern Transport Bill at transportsecretary@dft.gsi.gov.uk. Please copy us in at heartoflondon@fourcommunications.com and send us any reply you receive.
