Since the launch of Heart of London’s free local recruitment service in 2016, 18 of our business members have employed 72 jobseekers. This number is steadily increasing and our most recent success story is a leading example.
Sylvia Kankasa is the Specialist Workplace Coordinator at Recruit London, and works closely with Capital Arches, franchisee of a large number of West End branches of McDonald’s. Sylvia works with people that have health issues, learning disabilities and as well as those with physical disabilities and is always happy to match sympathetic employers to the best candidates.
Albert is an example of the type of candidate Sylvia assists in their search for work. He is a 49 year old, profoundly deaf Westminster resident who has encountered some health issues that resulted in him being unable to work and hence unemployed for over 9 years.
Albert had requested a street cleaning role and is now employed by McDonald’s in Leicester Square as a patrol and litter picker. The role was created especially for Albert with the help of Sylvia Kankasa, Kate Fenton, our former Heart of London Workplace Coordinator and Carolina Costa Kanwar from Capital Arches.
