HOLBA has recently met with the new Minister of State for Transport, John Hayes MP. He agreed there was a strong case for action and reiterated support for regulation.
John has set up a working group to look at Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle legislation, at which Pedicabs is being considered. We have made representations to the group and will continue to provide evidence.
These unregulated rickshaws cause problems for businesses; blocking highways, harassing and ripping off customers and causing serious risk to visitors and workers. We are winning the argument, with our broad coalition of businesses, residents, Westminster City Council and Transport for London all committed to a sensible change in the law. We call on the government to follow through on their promise to act, and bring forward a bill.
