What is the campaign? [archive]

We are working with the Mayor of London and not-for-profit TAP London on a fundraising campaign to fund frontline services supporting homeless people in our capital. The only way to give, is to ‘TAP’ one of our 100 contactless units across the Capital. Each unit collects £3 donations from the general public, and 100% of every donation will go to supporting the 21 charities which make up the London Homeless Charities Group. The campaign will last four months.

That’s where you come in. We need hosts to support the initiative – providing homes for contactless giving points – either as part of a window display or sitting on a counter-top at POS. It’s free, there is no liability (if the units get stolen/broken – its on us), and you can cancel your involvement at anytime.

Your window or counter-top could make a huge difference this winter. We hope you’ll join us.

THE CONTACTLESS UNITS

What types of units are there? There are two types of TAP donation points: countertop and window. Window units take donations through the glass exterior, meaning they have the potential to receive donations 24/7.

What size are the units? The countertop units are roughly 16cm high, 11.5cm wide and 19cm deep, without branding. Branding will add marginal width and height as shown in the campaign branding (pages 4-5). The contactless units in the window display are 8.4cm, 10.4cm, and 4.6cm deep. The vinyl poster which is visible from the outside is adjustable depending on the space available, ranging from A2 (42x59cm) to A0 (84 x 119cm). We can also offer a larger window display for vacant shopfronts, where we are able to fill the entire space. The back of the units will be covered by plain cardboard to avoid the unit being tampered with, and for a subtle presence.

What are the requirements? All units have their own 3G/4G signal. They require a power socket (ideally located within two metres of the device) and use only a few watts of electricity. The device battery is about the same as a phone – so four months’ electricity would cost less than £10. When we install the units, we will make sure that cables are hidden and safe
