West End 2027

Our vision is to reshape the West End, with ambitious proposals to deliver by 2027, ensuring the area maintains its status as a world-class destination.

Our Place-shaping Strategy consists of over 40 priority projects, with five immediate priorities:

  • Charing Cross Road
  • St Martin’s Lane
  • The Arts Quarter
  • Green Park & Piccadilly Gateway
  • Sackville Street

These proposals are constantly evolving and will be subject to statutory consultations, detailed collaborative design with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders and consents.

We invite you to visit our West End 2027 website to find out more.

A unified plan for the whole community

Our West End 2027 proposals are based on our Placeshaping Strategy.

Through consultation, private and public sector have input into the schemes to make the changes that will benefit the entire community. Our Placeshaping Strategy provides a unified plan for the public realm and guidance for further improvements to streets and spaces across the Heart of London.

The strategy balances two priorities. Firstly, to preserve the strong sense of place by enhancing the unique character of the Heart of London area (and its constituent spaces). Secondly, to put people back into the heart of the West end by maintaining or improving their function – locally and at the metropolitan scale. We invite you to read more about the Placeshaping strategy here.
