We are thrilled to announce the return of Kids Week – the annual London theatre initiative run by Society of London Theatre (SOLT).
From 1 August – 31 August, one child goes free to many of London’s most popular shows with a full-price adult ticket during Kids Week. You can also purchase two further half-price child tickets, meaning that all the little ones can enjoy the show.
There will be FREE children’s tickets to more than 40 hit shows throughout the month. Tickets go on sale on 12 June at 10:00am.
The scheme, which aims to encourage more young people and their families to experience the magic of live theatre, offers a free ticket to every child aged 16 or under when they’re accompanied by a paying adult, and half-price tickets for two additional children in the same group. There are no booking, postage or transaction fees either.
Kids Week is one of the longest-running and widest-reaching audience development initiatives in the world. Since it began in 1998, it has engaged over 1.4 million children and families.
Alongside the performances, children are given the chance to get involved in a wide range of free events, workshops and activities, and participating shows are offering everything from storytelling and backstage tours to cast meet-and-greets and choreography.
For the first time, every Kids Week purchase comes with a free activity sheet of quizzes, puzzles and fascinating theatrical facts. Kids Week ticket holders can also take advantage of a number of ‘Kids Go Free’ deals on dining and hotels.
This year, Kids Week is partnering with LimbPower, a charity which helps people with amputations and limb impairments make the most of opportunities in the arts and sport. An afternoon of theatre taster workshops will be held at the Lyric Hammersmith on 20 August, for 25 young people with amputations and their siblings.
Emma De Souza, Founder of Kids Week, said: ‘I’m very proud that Kids Week has reached so many families during its 21 years, as it is so important to get children into the habit of theatre-going and give them a fun and positive experience. I am thrilled to be partnering with LimbPower this year, a charity close to my heart as my son is a recent amputee. Their work is hugely important for building confidence and opening doors to new experiences for the children and families they support.’
