Since the launch of Heart of London’s free local recruitment service last August, 16 business members have employed 52 jobseekers filling a variety of roles.
The Radisson Blu Edwardian Hampshire Hotel in Leicester Square has recently benefited from the scheme, with the assistance of Heart of London Workplace Coordinator, Kate Fenton, who helped hire local jobseeker Mohamed for their kitchen.
Kate was sent Mohamed‘s details by the Octavia Foundation – a local charity that supports people facing difficulty or crisis. Kate then met Mohamed and his wife, Assma at Marylebone Job Centre. Mohamed’s level of English was such that Assma came to help support him. Sensing the level of urgency with which Mohamed needed to find a job, Kate contacted a number of Heart of London business members who she thought might have a suitable vacancy and was able to setup an interview with the Hampshire Hotel on very short notice.
Kumar Mishra, General Manager, Hampshire Hotel
“He has been a great asset to our team and we thank Heart of London for helping us find such an amazing member for our team. I wish we can find more people in the Hospitality industry who have the same attitude and character.”
Assma, Mohamed’s wife
“My husband and I met Kate Fenton only once, and yet it feels like we have known her for a while. On that particular day, we met Kate at the job centre where we discussed employments options for my husband. Through the discussion we had, Kate was very quick at realising that we were in a very difficult financial situation and she managed to contact us with one job offer and an interview, within less than a week.
“Recruit London is an amazing concept and my husband and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about finding work. My husband has gained confidence while working and has become a very valuable asset to the company he works for.”
